Dèke-venê Bî (/ˈdèke/ /ˈvenɘ/ [elegant] [car]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Ko-13nhun Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Dèke-venê Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Dèke-venê Bî was founded by Rust Èbê, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Dèke-venê Bî has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 33°C (91°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 20°C (68°F). Dèke-venê Bî receives an average of 227 cm/y (89 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Dèke-venê Bî covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1292 m (4238 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Dèke-venê Bî was founded durring the late 15th century in summer of the year 1359, by Rust Èbê. The establishment of Dèke-venê Bî suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Dèke-venê Bî which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Dèke-venê Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Dèke-venê Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Dèke-venê Bî is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of spacious cobblestone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The town's millitarily questionable fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

A look around Dèke-venê Bî shows Dèke-venê Bî is little more than a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Birbes can be seen changing hands openly, such that it must be customary to do so and must have been for a long time. The locals have no fear, no annoyance at the state of things, it simply is.

Civic Infrastructure

Dèke-venê Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Dèke-venê Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Dèke-venê Bî's parks.

Dèke-venê Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Dèke-venê Bî.

Dèke-venê Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Dèke-venê Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Dèke-venê Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Dèke-venê Bî's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Dèke-venê Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Dèke-venê Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Dèke-venê Bî has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Dèke-venê Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Dèke-venê Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Dèke-venê Bî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

In Dèke-venê Bî rainbows form quite often above the Large Town.

The Bonewrought Willow near Dèke-venê Bî are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Dèke-venê Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves gestures to channel Augury energies of tier 2 via guttural bellowing.
